Bye Bye Summer of 2011 (a mini-series)..... visit to Cologne and Frankfurt City

Next on our list was the city of Cologne. Cologne (German: Köln) is Germany's fourth-largest city and is located on both sides of the Rhine River.
The city's famous Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) is the seat of the Catholic Archbishop of Cologne.

A visit in Cologne is not complete without a stop at the famous Cathedral- (Kölner Dom). Cologne Cathedral (German: Kölner Dom) is the city's most famous monument and the Cologne residents' most respected landmark. It is a Gothic church, started in 1248, and completed in 1880. In 1996, it was designated a World Heritage site; it houses the Shrine of the Three Kings that supposedly contains the relics of the Three Magi. Residents of Cologne sometimes refer to the cathedral as "the eternal construction site" (German: Dauerbaustelle).(Wikipedia)

Cologne is a major cultural centre of the Rhineland and has a vibrant arts scene. Cologne is home to more than 30 museums and hundreds of galleries. Exhibitions range from local ancient Roman archeological sites to contemporary graphics and sculpture (Wikipedia)

Cologne is the only city my mum’s been to more than once, so we didn’t really tour much here. What we however did was take a walk along the river Rhine and later sat in a cafe along the Rhine. The atmosphere in Cologne is more laid back than in most cities in Germany.

I want her dress like now:-)

Also saw something for our fashionistas in a hidden street corner !!!!

Goodbye Cologne, Frankfurt here I come ...

Ladies in the City

Like all good movies come to an end ... so did our travels. To round up our mini tour of Germany, I decided to have one last city trip but more of a day out with the ladies. Ladies no matter their age will always love shopping. It is very rare to find a lady that loathes this as a pass time activity. So who else could I turn to for such a day......yeah right! Donna of course; my very own partner in crime(in this case, partner in shopping : -) ) So Frankfurt here we come.....The shops better be open !

So we left our men at home to baby sit the kids and off we went....just us ladies in the city :- ) Donna took us for a mini-sight seeing tour down town Frankfurt and then it was off to the shopping center.
